The Great Basin is a very important landform in Nevada. It attracts a lot of tourists in Nevada to see the Great Basin. A basin is a flat land surrounded with big Mountain areas. It is very dry in the Great Basin.
Mojave Desert
The Mojave Desert is very dry. It spreads throughout California through Utah. It covers the whole bottom of Nevada. It is one of the driest deserts in the USA.
Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam is on the very edge of Nevada. It also borders Arizona. Hoover Dam blocks the Colorado River from overflowing. It was finished in 1995.
Nevada Climate
Nevada is driest state in the USA. It is made up of mostly deserts and dry areas. Nevada does not get a lot of rain. They get 7 inches of rain per year. They get 25 inches of snow per year in the mountain regions. Las Vegas, Nevada gets very hot in the summer and the winters are cold. From June to September, temperatures can reach into the 90-100 range. The average diurnal temperature range approaches 40 degrees Fahrenheit in much of the state.
